Morning Beach Conditions

Update as of 915 AM...

 

Based on ocean rescue condition reports the NWS has raised the rip current risk to HIGH making it as RED FLAG DAY from Duck to Ocracoke. Ocean conditions will lead to powerful rip currents. Ocean swimming is not recommended, stay out of the water!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which occurs around 2: 30 pm today.

 

Expect partly sunny skies today with showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures in the mid to upper 70s with south to southwest winds at 10 to 15 mph.  Surf height 2 to 4 feet. Water temperatures: Duck Pier...70. Jennettes Pier...64. Oregon Inlet Marina...69. Rodanthe Pier...64. Avon Pier...69.

Always swim near a lifeguard. If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
